The Nebraska Energy Office receives funds from the U.S. Department of Energy to administer the Weatherization Assistance Program which helps low-income households save energy and lower energy bills by making energy efficiency home improvements at no cost.   Weatherization services are delivered through a statewide network of Weatherization Assistance Program subgrantees.  The Nebraska Energy Office is developing a Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016).

Eligible entities that wish to become a subgrantee under the Weatherization Assistance Program for the Western Region which includes Banner, Cheyenne, Duel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill and Scotts Bluff counties, must submit proposals in accordance with the schedule of events outlined in the RFP for Subawards. Applicants will need to include in the Application package but not limited to: Articles of Incorporation, Mission Statement, key agency personnel, Board of Directors and representation, two most recent Certified Public Accountant audits, Organizational chart, proposed staffing levels, and other information necessary to determine the applicant’s eligibility and capacity to deliver the proposed weatherization services.   The application must also address:

  • The organization’s experience, performance, and training in weatherization or housing renovation activities;
  • The organization’s experience in assisting low income persons in the area to be served; and
  • The organization’s capacity to undertake a timely and effective weatherization program.
Completed applications are due by April 15, 2015, 2:00 PM, Central Daylight Savings Time. Late Bids received after this date and time will not be opened.
