Ethanol and Unleaded Gasoline Average Rack Prices

As of August 2008, the rack price of ethanol was $2.75 versus $3.10 for unleaded gasoline--a difference of 35 cents per gallon.  The ethanol rack price was 15 cents lower compared to last month's price but 32 cents higher than a year ago.  Unleaded gasoline's average rack price was 20 cents lower than last month's price but 77 cents higher than a year ago.  This is the second consecutive month that the price of unleaded gasoline fell.  The main factor contributing to the decline is the decreasing price of crude oil.
