Ethanol and Unleaded Gasoline Average Rack Prices

The rack price of ethanol took a huge leap of 40 cents per gallon in February 2006 compared to January due to two factors:  (1) the demand increase throughout the nation resulting from the switch away from MTBE and also (2) a demand increase in the Denver, Colorado, and Los Angeles, California, areas resulting from the oxyfuel season.  The oxyfuel season is November 1 through April 1 when air pollution is typically at its highest levels.
