Ethanol and Unleaded Gasoline Average Rack Prices

The ethanol price at the beginning of 2006 was higher from the end of 2005 possibly due to increased demand from states on the East Coast converting to ethanol from MTBE.  The price of a barrel of ethanol rose to $100 on the East Coast (or $2.38 per gallon).  At the beginning of 2006, the price of gasoline was higher from the end of 2005 possibly due to concerns that gasoline supply would be low for the upcoming driving season.
