Ethanol and Unleaded Gasoline Average Rack Prices

Ethanol's rack price had been falling since the beginning of 2005 but started increasing in June and overtook unleaded gasoline's rack price in July.  At the end of August, prices for both ethanol and unleaded gasoline started increasing.  Prices were reflective of the international demand for oil, which was at an all-time high, and the disruption of oil production from disaster conditions created by Hurricane Katrina since the Gulf Coast is a main supplier of oil and gasoline to the Midwest.
