Natural gas production for 2010 was 2.3 billion cubic feet, which was 23 percent
less than 2009 production of 2.9 billion cubic feet. The record high was in the year
1960 when 28.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas was produced. Natural gas production
for 2008 was 3.1 billion cubic feet, nearly double the production (98 percent) from
2007 when production was 1.6 billion cubic feet. The
increase in 2008 was due to high natural gas prices. More information can be found
in the report Natural Gas Production by County.
In 2009, Nebraskans consumed 163.0 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
Consumption is not available for more recent years. Nebraska's
natural gas production in 2009 was 2.9 billion cubic feet which represented only 2
percent of the natural gas consumed in the state.
