In 2015, Nebraska used 161.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas, a decrease of 6.8 percent from 2014. The industrial sector consumed 53 percent of the total consumption, the residential sector consumed 22 percent, and the commercial sector consumed 18 percent. The transportation and electric power sectors consumed 4.4 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively.
Within the residential sector, according to the “2015 American Community Survey”, 59 percent of Nebraska households used natural gas as their primary heating fuel.
