Wind Facilities' Installed Capacity by State


Nebraska has the twenty-fourth largest installed capacity of wind in the country, based on the latest figures.  Note:  Oregon and Washington are tied at fifth place with 2,104 megawatts, so there are 24 states ahead of Nebraska.  To say that Nebraska has the twenty-fifth largest installed capacity would also be correct.

As of the fourth quarter of 2010, Nebraska has the installed capacity of 213 megawatts of wind energy, which is less than one percent of the nation's installed capacity of 40,180 megawatts.  Texas has the largest installed capacity (10,085 megawatts which is 25 percent of the nation's total), and Delaware and Rhode Island have the smallest installed capacity (2 megawatts).  Thirty-eight states have wind facilities.
