In 1996, the U.S. Department of Energy offered the Climate Wise program to provide services to manufacturers.

The Nebraska Energy Office was awarded the following State Energy Program — Special Projects grant under the Climate Wise category:

• Climate Wise Target Marketing and Industrial Energy Services, 1996 - $50,000. Through this project, the Energy Office marketed Climate Wise services and provided technical assistance on financing options. Low-cost energy efficiency loans were made available through the agency’s Dollar and Energy Saving Loan Program. A total of 23 projects were financed. The total cost of eligible energy conservations measures was more than $2.5 million.

The project started July 1, 1996 and was completed June 30, 1998.
