Ethanol Production Capacity by Plant

As of April 2005, the United States had the capacity to produce 3,760.7 million (3.8 billion) gallons of ethanol and had plans for an additional 669 million gallons.  Nebraska's capacity was 523 million gallons, or 14 percent, of the nation's capacity.  Although the Renewable Fuels Association reports that Nebraska had zero capacity under construction or in plans for expansion, six plants in Nebraska are building larger facilities or securing financing needed for expansion to produce an additional 272 million gallons.
