A Workshop for Architects and Engineers...

Designing and Building Efficient, Durable and Cost-Effective Commercial Buildings

While the latest energy code versions and “beyond code” programs require higher performing building enclosures, many “green buildings” are being criticized because their energy performance has failed to live up to expectations. The latest Code requirements have also increased concerns about how expanded use of continuous insulation, or “CI,” will impact the envelopes long term durability and drying potential. Steve’s presentation will focus on design options that really work for creating high performance building enclosures that can manage thermal transfer and moisture efficiently. Steve’s presentation will explore why many buildings fail to perform as expected, as well as provide cost effective recommendations on envelope detailing, insulation and air sealing techniques and information to include in specifications.
