Nebraska Energy Code Training Workshops
The Nebraska Energy Office announces four no-cost training opportunities scheduled for the Spring of 2008. These workshops will focus on the proper enforcement of the Nebraska Energy Code (Code) which is the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code. This opportunity is being made available as part of the Nebraska Energy Office’s continuing effort to assist local code officials, architects, engineers and others in the implementation of the Code.
The cost of these trainings is being underwritten, in part, by the following energy suppliers operating in Nebraska: Lincoln Electric System, Metropolitan Utilities District, Nebraska Municipal Power Pool, Nebraska Public Power District and the Omaha Public Power District. A free lunch will be provided at each workshop.

Plan Review for the Residential Provisions of the 2003 IECC — June 5, 2008 |

This session provides an overview of the residential provisions of the Code, and includes discussion of the energy provisions within the International Residential Code. Topics include the role of the residential plan reviewer, the Scope and Application of the Code, Mandatory Requirements, and Insulation and Glazing Requirements.

Field Inspection for the Residential Provisions of the 2003 IECC — June 12, 2008 |

This session will provide guidance on those Code features which should be inspected during a normal residential inspection schedule. The course will be conducted on site(s) and will include 1) the proper installation of energy features to comply with the requirements of the Code, 2) the building science behind the provisions thereof, and 3) the role of the residential inspector in ensuring Code compliance.

Following preliminary instruction, this training session will be completed at residential construction sites. Transportation to the inspection sites will be provided.
