Creating a New Nebraska Energy Plan

Beginning October 29th, Nebraskans from across our state began submitting their ideas for a new Nebraska Energy Plan. Citizens have shown their ingenuity and concern for our environment in their proposals for making our state more energy independent and conservation-minded. Our communities have sent a clear message that they are willing to do more with less while preserving our quality of life and without sacrificing the high standard of living we enjoy today. Once again Nebraskans have shown they can rise above their own concerns in order to work towards the greater good of all and establish a goal of creating an energy future which will shine brightly for generations to come.

Summary to Date
October 29th through November 7th meetings were held in nine communities across the state to gather the public's comments and ideas for creating a new Nebraska energy plan. The Energy Office thought it should be the citizens of Nebraska — who use and pay for the energy they use in their homes, farms, businesses and vehicles — who determine the course our state should take in planning and making decisions concerning Nebraska's energy future.

Through December 1st, comments were received by mail and solicited through the Energy Office's website where Nebraskan's could review the state's previous Energy Plan and make comments on line regarding the direction the state should take in preparing a new Energy Plan.

After all comments were collected, Nebraska Energy Office staff, statewide stakeholders and energy interest groups analyzed the recommendations and ideas and distilled the most relevant energy concerns and organized the comments into a summary that best reflects all the energy issues facing Nebraskans today.
